Position Details

Principal Essential Duties And Responsibilities: (May not include all tasks employee may be expected to perform.)

  • Maintain Confidentiality
  • Assist the principal with providing leadership, vision, and direction for staff and students.
  • Serve as a proactive leader in the building, identifying and accepting ownership of tasks, activities, and programming.
  • Coach and empower staff as necessary in managing student behaviors.
  • Work with parents -communicating as necessary regarding long-term student success or for high risk students and severe infractions.
  • Collaborate with the MTSS coordinator, behavior interventionist, counselor, and principal (Tier II Team) on PBIS implementation, restorative practices, and behavior management.
  • Facilitate threat assessments as needed and track all corresponding documents.
  • Provide a positive and safe school environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
  • Assist with curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students.
  • Assist in evaluating staff performance, setting professional goals, and completion of evaluations using the district adopted tools.
  • Collaborate with PLC teams to analyze data and implement strategies to increase student success.
  • Assist in planning and executing effective professional development sessions, staff meetings, and PLC meetings.
  • Interact with students and staff to create a positive climate and encourage high achievement.
  • Be present and assist in arrival and dismissal.
  • Assist in planning, executing, and supervising assessment cycles.
  • Collaborate with district representatives on Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP) and documentation.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Represent the school on various district teams and other agencies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with appropriate staff on tracking student attendance and meeting with families to decrease chronic absenteeism.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building principal or superintendent.
