PGS Worldwide is seeking an Electronics Technician in Colorado Springs, Colorado for an approximately six-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support engineering hardware fabrication, electronic and mechanical assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and laboratory operations. The technician will perform extensive cable and harness fabrication, rack integration, and electronic chassis assembly using engineering drawings and technical instructions.
Required Skills
- 1+ year of experience with cable and harness fabrication.
- 1+ year of experience with rack assembly or rack integration.
- Experience fabricating electronic/electrical chassis and mechanical rack assemblies.
- Experience building, routing, dressing, and testing cables within equipment racks.
- Hands-on experience with cable and harness techniques including wire cutting, stripping, cable preparation, connectorization, crimping, pinning, and soldering.
- Experience with jacketing, braiding, lacing tape, spot ties, or other wire-bundle techniques.
- Ability to work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal technical instructions.
- Experience using hand tools, fabrication tools, test equipment, and laboratory equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic and/or mechanical assemblies.
- Experience conducting tests and documenting results in prescribed formats.
- Ability to perform in-process inspections in accordance with quality requirements.
- Ability to work independently and communicate technical issues with customers and vendors.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders as required.
Preferred Skills
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with Cat5e and Cat6 cable fabrication, routing, and testing.
- Experience supporting engineering-development or laboratory environments.
- Experience integrating electronic hardware into rack assemblies.
What You’ll Do
- Fabricate electronic and electrical chassis from engineering drawings.
- Build and integrate mechanical and electronic rack assemblies.
- Fabricate cables and wire harnesses using established aerospace and electronics techniques.
- Perform wire cutting, stripping, preparation, crimping, pinning, soldering, jacketing, braiding, and bundle dressing.
- Build, route, and dress Cat5e and Cat6 cables within rack assemblies.
- Test completed cables and verify functionality.
- Assemble and repair electronic and mechanical components and subassemblies.
- Troubleshoot equipment and resolve fabrication or integration issues.
- Operate laboratory and electronic test equipment.
- Conduct tests and document results.
- Perform in-process inspections against applicable quality requirements.
- Work with management to identify and improve technical and process documentation.
- Communicate technical issues with customers, engineers, management, and vendors.
- Support basic laboratory operations and engineering hardware activities.
