Electronics Repair Technician

The Electronics Repair Technician independently performs repair, calibration, testing, and validation of industrial electronic and electro-mechanical equipment. This role requires strong technical proficiency and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with minimal supervision while ensuring all repaired units meet company quality, safety, and performance standards.

This position works with a variety of industrial components including PLCs, drives, industrial PCBs, timers, counters, monitors, servo motors, and temperature/process control devices. The role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical documentation while contributing to overall production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform bench-level electronic and electro-mechanical repairs using industry-standard troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques
• Isolate failures at the component level on industrial control equipment
• Repair, calibrate, program, and functionally test industrial electronics
• Utilize diagnostic tools including oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and test fixtures
• Perform power-up and functional testing to ensure quality and reliability
• Inspect, clean, and verify part numbers on all processed units
• Order and verify proper replacement parts for repairs
• Accurately document troubleshooting steps, repairs, parts used, and test results in internal systems
• Process units to “RTS” (Ready to Sell) condition in accordance with quality standards
• Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of all units
• Follow established quality methods, procedures, and safety standards
• Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members
• Manage workload effectively to meet productivity and turnaround expectations
• Properly use and maintain shop tools, equipment, and test fixtures
• Support development of new repair capabilities and technologies
• Perform other duties, tasks, or work as assigned

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required
• 2–4 years of experience in electronics repair, electro-mechanical assembly, or industrial maintenance preferred
• Technical certificate or Associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field preferred
• Understanding of industrial controls repair processes
• Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Self-motivated and team-oriented
• Ability to provide and maintain personal tools as required

Knowledge & Skills Required
• Understanding of electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, ICs, etc.)
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Experience with soldering and rework techniques
• Familiarity with diagnostic equipment (multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes)
• Basic mechanical aptitude and safe use of hand tools
• Exposure to PLCs, drives, or industrial controls is a plus
• Strong computer proficiency
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication skills

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Technical certification (related field) preferred

Physical Demands
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Frequent walking
• Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent lifting up to 25 pounds, continuous lifting up to 10 pounds

Work Schedule
This position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Overtime may be required on Saturdays based on business demand. Employees must adhere to attendance and coverage policies.

Work Environment
Warehouse and production floor environment with exposure to mechanical noise, machinery, and material handling equipment. Employees must maintain awareness of surroundings and adhere to all safety protocols. Closed-toe, hard-soled shoes are required, and safety shoes are recommended. Proper safety equipment must be worn as required.
