Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill an Electronics Repair Manufacturing Engineer job in Bloomfield, CT. This CONTRACT job is available with one of our key clients in the elevators, escalators, and moving walkway industry. In this role, you will lead the expansion of an electronics repair operation by designing and deploying new test equipment, optimizing repair processes, and improving manufacturing efficiency. To be successful in this position, you should have extensive experience with electronics troubleshooting, test system design, power electronics, and Lean Manufacturing principles. Preference will be given to professionals with experience supporting industrial drives, elevator systems, or automated test environments.

Electronics Repair Manufacturing Engineer job Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, commission, and validate electronic test equipment, repair fixtures, and functional, diagnostic, and end-of-line test systems for industrial electronic assemblies.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, validation protocols, and technical documentation while integrating instrumentation, data acquisition systems, PLCs, power supplies, and automation components.
  • Serve as the technical expert for troubleshooting and repairing PCBAs, power electronics, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control systems, industrial control electronics, and embedded electronic assemblies.
  • Improve repair methodologies by reducing repeat failures, minimizing no-fault-found occurrences, shortening repair cycle times, and enhancing overall test coverage and repair quality.
  • Analyze production workflows, material flow, workstation utilization, and facility layouts to implement Lean Manufacturing principles that improve productivity, inventory management, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and execute capacity expansion initiatives by identifying production bottlenecks, optimizing repair processes, supporting equipment migration, and increasing repair throughput and operational flexibility.
  • Establish standardized repair procedures, testing methods, and work instructions while supporting staffing, operational ramp-up activities, and continuous process improvements to reduce costs and improve lead times.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten-plus years of experience in electronics manufacturing, repair, test engineering, industrial systems, or related technical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and commissioning electronic test equipment, along with expert-level troubleshooting of PCBAs, power electronics, VFDs, motor controls, and industrial electronic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, manufacturing process optimization, facility layout design, technical documentation, and project management. Experience with National Instruments (NI), LabVIEW, PLC-based test systems, or automated test equipment is preferred.
  • Experience supporting industrial automation, elevator systems, depot repair, remanufacturing, or service operations is highly desirable. Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certifications are a plus.
