The Electronic Lab Technician will support product development, certification, and sustaining engineering by performing electrical and mechanical testing in a power testing laboratory. The primary purpose of this position is to conduct mechanical and electrical testing to meet the demands of the engineering departments to achieve product development, sustainment, and certification goals. This position will perform functions necessary to support product development and maintenance of line activities which include assembly of products and test setups. Additional requirements will be to help maintain lab test equipment, track test request status, and samples. This position will need to support all EHS requirements and 5S initiatives.
Testing performed in this lab includes thermal testing, overload testing, endurance testing, short circuit/withstand testing, and UL, IEC, and CSA certification and recertification testing.
Work breakdown: 60 70% hands-on lab work, including test setup, wiring, equipment assembly, and general manual labor; 30 40% documentation, data collection, test reports, scheduling, and email communication.
Equipment and tools used include hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, impact guns, etc.) and a sit-down forklift (training provided).
