The Electromechanical Technician will support the assembly and development of innovative production and R&D equipment in a hands-on, onsite role in Boulder, CO. This position combines mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, control panel construction, and process system integration to help transition products from research and development into manufacturing. The technician will build equipment from engineering drawings and P&IDs, assemble hydraulic and piping systems using stainless steel tubing and Swagelok connections, wire sensors and instrumentation, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain technical documentation and lab records. This role offers the opportunity to work in a rapidly growing startup environment, collaborate closely with engineering and R&D teams, and have significant visibility and impact within a small organization.

Responsibilities

• Assemble production equipment and experimental hardware used in R&D and manufacturing operations.
• Build equipment and process systems directly from engineering drawings, mechanical schematics, and P&IDs.
• Perform electrical wiring of sensors, instruments, and small-gauge electrical components used in process systems.
• Construct and troubleshoot control panels that support production and testing systems.
• Assemble hydraulic systems and stainless steel tubing using Swagelok fittings and connections.
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, controls, hydraulics, and process components into complete systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and support root-cause analysis to improve system reliability and performance.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, assembly records, and laboratory logs.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and R&D teams to support prototype builds and new technology development.
• Help transition equipment and processes from research and development into manufacturing operations.
• Use hand tools, measurement tools, and assembly tools safely and effectively during daily work.
• Follow safety protocols and use appropriate PPE while working in a chemical laboratory and manufacturing environment.
• Support projects that may involve Department of Defense-related explosive applications by adhering to strict safety and process guidelines.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing mechanical assembly of industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, or production equipment.
• Proficiency wiring instruments, sensors, or electrical components in support of process systems and equipment.
• Experience assembling or troubleshooting control panels for production or testing applications.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
• Comfort working onsite in a chemical manufacturing and R&D environment with exposure to various chemicals.
• Ability to use hand tools, measurement tools, and assembly tools with precision and safety.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Attention to detail in following engineering documentation and maintaining accurate records.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience assembling hydraulic systems.
• Experience working with stainless steel tubing.
• Hands-on experience with Swagelok fittings and connections.
• Small-gauge wiring experience for instrumentation and control systems.
• Experience supporting R&D or prototype equipment builds.
• Background in chemical processing, energy, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing environments.
• Instrumentation or controls experience, including working with sensors and control hardware.
• Interest in working within a rapidly growing startup and contributing to new technology development.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a small technician team and with engineering and R&D staff.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite position based in Boulder, CO, within a chemical laboratory and manufacturing environment. The role involves daily exposure to various chemicals and occasional support of projects related to Department of Defense explosive applications, with strict adherence to safety protocols. The technician will work as part of a small team of approximately three technicians and will collaborate closely with engineering and R&D personnel. Personal protective equipment and established safety procedures are expected at all times while working around laboratory and process systems. The environment offers broad technical exposure across electrical, mechanical, controls, hydraulics, and process systems in a rapidly growing startup that has recently expanded into a new facility and is entering its next phase of expansion.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boulder, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
