A day in your boots

It’s 2:45 PM when you badge into a high-performing corrugated facility in New Oxford. By 3:00, you’ve checked the logbook, chatted with the operators about how the rotary die cutter behaved on days, and prioritized a planned PM on a gluer before tackling a VFD swap on a sheeter. You’ll move from mechanical alignments and roll paralling on converting lines to electrical diagnostics on Allen‑Bradley PLC hardware. When a drive throws a fault, you dig in—faceplate parameters make the swap quick, and you verify the repair before closing the ticket in the CMMS. If something doesn’t add up, you pick up the phone and loop in the OEM. You own the result, not just the repair.

What you’ll take on

  • Keep corrugating and converting assets—flatbed/rotary die cutters, offset presses, gluers, Asitrades, and sheeters—running at capacity and quality specs.
  • Execute reactive, planned, preventive, and predictive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems with an uptime-first mindset.
  • Parallel rolls and set/adjust machine parameters for optimum throughput and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot PLC hardware on Allen‑Bradley platforms; diagnose and repair AC/DC drives and related control systems.
  • Replace and configure VFDs (many with parameter-saving faceplates).
  • Handle basic steam generator tasks (startup/shutdown, steam line changes, trap cleanout); OEM performs PMs and major work.
  • Collaborate with onsite OEM technicians and leverage remote OEM support; verify work quality post-repair.
  • Document work in maintenance software accurately; uphold plant procedures and safety standards while maintaining clean work areas.

What you bring

  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read diagrams and schematics.
  • Electrical experience: control voltage (0–24V), 110–240V single phase, and 480V three phase.
  • Hands-on PLC hardware troubleshooting.
  • Personal basic hand tools (standard and metric).
  • Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift, Saturdays, and overtime as needed after daytime training.

Nice to have

  • Intermediate/advanced electrical and mechanical skill sets.
  • Mechanical rebuilds; experience with corrugated systems, conveyors, bearings, shafts, seals, and gearboxes.
  • Comfort with meters, cabinet troubleshooting, electrical schematics, motors, servos, VFDs, transformers, relays, I/O, wiring, sensors, HMIs, and robots.
  • Pumps (positive displacement, air diaphragm, centrifugal), hydraulics/pneumatics, hydraulic cylinder rebuilds.
  • MIG/TIG/stick welding for light fabrication (guards, roller shafts).
  • Background in packaging, pulp & paper, food production, or GMP environments.

Training, support, and culture

  • Structured onboarding: ~90 days on day shift with a check-in around day 75 before moving to 2nd or 3rd.
  • Hands-on leadership: a Maintenance Manager who guides training, monitors progress, and pairs you with mentors across machines.
  • OEM access: shadow visiting OEM techs and tap into remote OEM support on most equipment.
  • Strong communication: solid shift change huddles; teams often come early/stay late to help each other.
  • Flex when it counts: Saturdays are standard, but request time off in advance for planning.

Pay and benefits

  • $29.31–$39.44 per hour based on skills and experience, plus $1/hour shift differential.
  • 1.5x pay over 8 hours/day and over 40 hours/week; weekend and holiday premiums.
