Electromechanical Maintenance Specialist, Food Manufacturing
Keep high-speed food production lines running safely, reliably, and efficiently by diagnosing and repairing both mechanical and electrical issues across the plant.
A day in the life
The line starts before dawn. A conveyor hesitates; you’re there with a meter and a wrench. You trace a fault from a photoelectric sensor to a starter, swap a motor, tension a chain, and bring the system back to speed. Between calls, you execute preventive maintenance on gearboxes and VFD-driven equipment, log your work in the CMMS, and partner with production to plan the next changeover. Safety is non‑negotiable—you lead with lockout/tagout and coach others to do the same.
What you’ll own
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial production equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
- Perform mechanical work on conveyors, bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and motors.
- Diagnose electrical issues involving motors, sensors/photo eyes, relays, switches, starters, and control panels, including 3‑phase systems.
- Support troubleshooting of PLCs, VFDs, and automated production equipment.
- Execute preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and boost reliability.
- Respond rapidly to breakdowns during production and stabilize equipment performance.
- Inspect machinery to identify and correct emerging issues before they escalate.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teammates to sustain safe, efficient operations.
- Follow all plant safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, PMs, parts usage, and completed work.
- Assist with equipment installs, adjustments, and line changeovers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on uptime, safety, and equipment performance.
