Electromechanical Equipment Technician — Plant Operations (Level I)

Pay, bonus, and schedule

• Hourly: $19–$24
• Shift Differential: $2.50 per hour
• Pay Frequency: Weekly
• Sign-On Bonus: $1,500
• 2nd Shift: Mon–Fri, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• 3rd Shift: Mon–Fri, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Primary responsibilities

• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical problems using appropriate test equipment and hand tools.
• Fabricate and install mechanical parts; conduct rigging and other maintenance tasks.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, machinery, apparatus, and fixtures using hand, power, and precision measuring tools.
• Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and related components.
• Program and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and PLC systems.
• Safely perform welding and oxyacetylene torch work.
• Calculate layouts, perform balancing, and align equipment.
• Maintain electrical installations to applicable country, state, and federal codes.
• Use or fabricate mechanical components (fittings, valves, etc.) from cold rolled steel, stainless steel, steel plate, structural members, and other metals.
• Deliver error-free work and adhere to standardized processes supporting safety and quality programs.
• Keep work area clean and organized; work under direct supervision; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong attention to detail and basic critical thinking skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and assist with repairs on advanced processing equipment, CNC, material handling systems, press brakes, lifting devices, and sawing equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex systems.
• Self-motivated; able to work independently while following direction as required.
• Proficient in laser alignment and vibration monitoring.
• Competent with VFD and PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Experienced with mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Experienced testing electrical systems and circuit continuity using ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
• Competent with oxyacetylene torch work and welding; must maintain welding certification.
• Qualified to operate forklifts, high lifts, and cranes; must maintain required equipment certifications.
• Proficient with hand tools including hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, and bander.
• Ability to speak, write, and comprehend conversational English.

Physical demands

• Standing and walking for prolonged periods, including 2–5 miles per shift.
• Frequent bending, sitting, standing, twisting, and stooping for extended periods.
• Lift and carry 25–50 lbs from floor to waist; front-carry 25–50 lbs repeatedly per shift.
• Overhead reaching; squatting, kneeling; climbing short ladders or steps.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Maintain precise hand and finger coordination for gripping and manipulation.
• Read labels, follow safety and SOPs, and communicate effectively in an industrial environment.
• 20/30 vision with the use of corrective lenses.

Work environment

• Exposure to changing temperatures, loud noise, and equipment vibration.
• Hazards include proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high heat, and chemicals.
• Atmospheric conditions may include fumes, odors, dust, mist, gas, or poor ventilation affecting respiratory system or skin.
• Potential air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
