Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Cardio/Pulmonary/Neurology/Sleep Disorders, performs a variety of electroencephalographic (EEG) and neurological testing procedures on in-patients and outpatients.

Job Functions

1. Performs Standard EEGs, Auditory and Visual Evoked Response, Median-Tibial Somato-sensory testing as individual tests or Full Battery which comprises all of the above (except EEG). These are performed on in-patients and outpatients of all ages in accordance with Emerson Hospital and Neurology Departmental policies and Procedures.

2. Technologists trained and certified in EPT will perform standard EEG testing. EEG technologists who are not trained/certified to do so, shall not perform EPT.

3. Educates the patient/patient family on the testing process.

4. Performs clerical duties as required including scheduling, billing, and filing reports.

5. Participates in CQI initiatives.

6. Participates in departmental education and training.

7. Assesses the quality of testing and testing equipment.

8. Maintains and supports patients rights to care, privacy and respect.

9. Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Graduate of a two year program in EEG and/or Evoked Potential Testing recognized by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) preferred.
