Standard Job Description
Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs approximately 114,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is one of four Lockheed Martin business areas.
We are seeking to hire an Electro-Optical (EO) Engineer focused on modeling and simulation who is passionate about EO technologies and can apply physics-based analysis to develop optimized solutions for complex challenges. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and applying radiometric, phenomenological, system-performance, and/or engagement-level EO models for sensors, laser systems, and related defense applications.
The EO Engineer must understand the sensitivities associated with the various elements of the EO system chain and be able to lead modeling and simulation activities that support system design trades, requirements analysis, performance prediction, and test planning. The engineer will be expected to assess model assumptions, quantify uncertainty, validate predictions against laboratory or field data, and clearly communicate the implications of analytical results.
Although this is a technical contributor role, the EO Engineer will be expected to provide technical leadership for modeling efforts, establish sound modeling approaches, mentor less-experienced engineers, and influence system-level design decisions. The engineer must be able to communicate complex analytical results at the appropriate level to a diverse audience, including technical experts, customers, program leadership, and senior management. Understanding of modern U.S. defense systems, specifically those focused on EO/IR and laser systems, is a plus.
