Help assemble mission-critical electrical compartments with precision and pride. This full-time role is part of a partnership between Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, and Impact Workforce Solutions.

  • 2nd shift (Mon–Fri, 2:30pm–11:00pm) with mandatory weekly overtime
  • Starting pay: $20+ (based on shift and experience)
  • 2nd Shift Rate: $19.00/hr + $1.00 shift differential ($20.00/hr)

What you’ll do

  • Install large components and sub-assemblies into electrical compartments
  • Route loose wires and cables to designated components and complete terminations
  • Terminate and dress cables to specification across the compartment
  • Support corrective actions for Quality-identified non-conformances
  • Follow process documentation and quality gate sheets
  • Verify gauge calibration; torque to engineering standards
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas

Advanced scope

  • Install harnesses/loose wires to panel assemblies; make accurate component terminations
  • Build plug assemblies; terminate per plug charts
  • Create wire harnesses using process drawings
  • Train team members

What you’ll bring

  • 1+ year manufacturing experience (heavy industrial preferred)
  • Read a tape measure with confidence
  • Experience with hand tools
  • Blueprint and wiring/wire schematic experience (preferred)
  • Curiosity and a strong learning mindset
  • Forklift and/or crane operation experience (preferred)
  • Basic PC/data entry skills
  • Familiarity with industrial environments, heavy structural assembly, and the safe use of hand/power tools and measuring devices

Physical & environmental conditions

  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs; push/pull up to 75 lbs
  • Constant walking; frequent, sustained bending, crouching, stopping, kneeing, squatting; overhead reach; ladder climbing
  • Follow written/verbal instructions; hear audible alarms
  • Work on concrete, gravel, rail car and locomotive floors; at varied heights (floor to tops of locomotives); in confined spaces
  • Non-temperature-controlled environment; all weather; high noise and dust
  • Comfort working independently
  • Safety-sensitive role around active tracks, rail cars, locomotives, and moving equipment; comply with all safety protocols, health/medical screenings, and required PPE
