Join FlexTrades as an Electro-Mechanical Field Assembly Technician
Picture your next assignment: you arrive at a modern, indoor production facility—maybe it’s aerospace, medical devices, forklifts, HVAC, industrial machinery, or even large mining equipment. You review the day’s build plan, study the blueprints, lay out your hardware and wiring, and get to work assembling precision parts that must meet tight specs and daily output goals. You’ll check quality as you go, solve minor issues on the line, and finish the shift knowing your craft kept production moving.
How the role works
FlexTrades places skilled assemblers on 3- or 6-month projects across the United States. You decide how many contracts to take each year. Complete the work you commit to, then take as much time off between assignments as you want—true flexibility while staying fully employed during projects.
Compensation & schedule
- $28–$32 per hour (varies by contract)
- 50+ hours per week
- Overtime paid at time-and-a-half
Travel & benefits
- Paid travel to and from each project
- Paid single-occupancy hotel lodging
- $45 per day per diem

What you’ll do
- Interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Assemble mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components to spec
- Install hardware, wiring, tubing, and subassemblies
- Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and testing equipment
- Hit daily production/output targets in fast-paced environments
- Perform in-process quality checks to meet customer specifications
- Troubleshoot minor assembly issues and flag defects
- Maintain safety and a clean, organized work area
What makes you a great fit
- Hands-on manufacturing assembly experience
- Background in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical assembly
- Fluency in reading blueprints, assembly drawings, or wiring schematics
- Proficient with standard hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Comfortable in high-output, production settings
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs (assistance available as needed)
- You should be proficient in: Blueprint Reading
