Electro-Mechanical Facilities Technician (MHE Focus)

Make complex systems simple: what you’ll do

• Prevent, detect, and fix: perform preventive maintenance and repairs on conveyors, lift trucks, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, dock and banana room equipment, plus electronic and electrical gear—per SOPs.
• Operate safely: run material handling and powered equipment, including battery-based systems and moving machinery.
• Own the details: complete work orders, logs, and digital records with accuracy.
• Think in diagrams: read blueprints and electro-mechanical schematics to diagnose issues and guide maintenance.
• Support the site: maintain grounds, parking areas, fencing, bathrooms, and plumbing to keep operations smooth.
• Be a multiplier: assist fellow technicians; take on complex troubleshooting when the root cause isn’t obvious.
• Communicate clearly: keep customers, suppliers, and teammates informed—verbally and in writing.

Physical requirements

• Computer/data entry and report writing; read/verify small print; visually inspect equipment and materials.
• Climb ladders and stairs; reach high/low; bend, twist, pull, and stoop.
• Lift/carry/place up to 50 lbs unassisted; apply lateral/vertical force to tighten or loosen hardware (e.g., nuts, bolts).
• Lift, push, pull, and carry tools/equipment above shoulder height without assistance.
• Differentiate sounds to maintain equipment, spot hazards, and respond to alarms.
• Operate vehicles or other large powered equipment.
• Access elevated areas using approved equipment; use crossovers to reach opposite sides of conveyors.
• Wear required PPE (fall, eye, hearing, respiratory, chemical, electrical protection, protective footwear).

Work environment

• Indoors/outdoors for extended periods; at heights; within narrow, enclosed, or elevated spaces.
• Varying temperatures including extreme heat/cold; wet, damp, or drafty conditions.
• Uneven, sloped, or slippery surfaces; high-noise zones requiring hearing protection.
• Industrial settings with elevated noise, strobing lights, and electromagnetic (EM) fields.
• Possible exposure to substances requiring special handling.

Entry requirements

• Minimum: 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience across electrical, electronics, and mechanical systems (e.g., forklifts, conveyors, building and automated equipment) OR formal coursework/certifications in industrial maintenance, electronics, electrical, mechanical automation, mechatronics, or related fields.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher in mechatronics, electronics, or industrial maintenance; recognized credentials such as CRMT or MCET.
