    Electro-Mechanical Equipment Troubleshooter — Industrial Chemical Production

    Location: Hammond, IN

    Your mission

    Keep a fast-paced chemical manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently. In this role, about 75–80% of your effort targets electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance. The remainder supports mechanical repairs and fine-tuning to prevent repeat issues.

    • Elevate equipment reliability through disciplined PM and root cause corrective actions.
    • Partner with production to restore throughput and sustain quality.

    Core responsibilities

    • Service 120V, 240V, and 480V electrical systems.
    • Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC motors, starters, motor controls, overloads, relays, contactors, transformers, disconnects, and control panels.
    • Diagnose and resolve VFD and motor control issues.
    • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documents.
    • Support PLC-controlled equipment by verifying I/O, sensors, and electrical components (no programming required).
    • Install/repair sensors, switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, wiring, and electrical devices.
    • Execute preventive maintenance to improve reliability and minimize unplanned stops.
    • Document work orders accurately and contribute to root cause analysis with long-term fixes.
    • Collaborate closely with fellow technicians and production teams.

    • Bearings, belts, chains, rollers
    • Gearboxes and pumps
    • Conveyors
    • Basic hydraulic and pneumatic components
    • Equipment adjustments and alignments

    Technologies and assets you’ll support

    • Conveyors, mixers, pumps
    • Industrial motors and gearboxes
    • Electrical control panels and safety circuits
    • PLC-controlled production equipment
    • VFDs, motor starters, relays, contactors
    • Electrical distribution equipment
    • Sensors and photo eyes

    Work setting & PPE

    This role is based in a chemical manufacturing facility with a rigorous safety culture. The site manufactures lead-based specialty products and uses engineering controls and required PPE to maintain a safe environment. Team members are expected to follow all plant safety procedures.

    PPE provided and used:

    • Safety glasses
    • Steel-toe boots
    • Gloves
    • Hearing protection
    • Respirator (required while working in designated production areas)

    Schedule & location

    • 1st Shift: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
    • 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

    Overtime is available based on production needs.

    Ideal experience

    • Industrial electrical maintenance in manufacturing
    • Comfort with 480V systems
    • Motors and motor controls
    • Hands-on with VFDs and electrical troubleshooting
    • Ability to read electrical schematics
    • Experience supporting PLC-controlled equipment
    • Preventive maintenance and accurate documentation
    • Mechanical troubleshooting in an industrial environment
