    Description


    • Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production.
    • Work with Mechanical and Electrical engineers to create designs that can be integrated into a manufacturing workflow.
    • Use SolidWorks to design parts, create assemblies, and create detailed engineering drawings complete with GD&T.
    • Review and interpret technical specifications, validate requirements for design, and manage manufacturing milestones to support component deliverables.
    • Work with production staff to understand problem areas and create solutions with little direction.
    • Author engineering changes and test procedures for complex ROV systems and subsystems.
    • Support the development of standard processes and documentation.
    • Inspect parts and assemblies to ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Participate in ECN, MRB, critical design review, and DFMA meetings.
    • Resolve technical problems that would significantly affect performance, cost or schedule.
    • Lead Design Reviews, run analysis, define and execute hardware test plans, propose and implement changes.
    • Review, interpret and approve technical documents, designs and schematics.
    • Drive the development of comprehensive mechanical engineering specifications for new product development, support the prototype development process throughout product development to production release.
    • Communicate and support engineering team, designers, and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
    • Coordinate with other departments affected by new product design, development and release.
    • Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, efficiency, requirements and cost.


    Qualifications:
    • Minimum: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
    • 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing setting: aerospace, robotics, automotive, medical device, or similar.
    • Advanced user of SolidWorks CAD software.
    • Hands on making experience: wood working, CNC, 3D printing, soldering, and other technical skills; thorough understanding of manufacturing methods, PCBs, waterjet, etc.
    • Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs (motors, controllers, sensors, etc.).
    • Able to perform tolerance analysis to verify fit and function of designs.
    • Highly driven to ensure high quality standards; experience implementing quality procedures.
    • Ability to follow through and make significant progress in a fast paced, demanding, dynamic environment.
    • Team oriented and good interpersonal skills.
    • Experience managing multiple projects at the same time.
    • Detail oriented: ability to become subject matter expert in order to make informed decisions.
    • Capable of working as a member of a team across several cross functional disciplines.
    • Strong communication skills, technical writing skills, project management skills and analytical skills.
    • Demonstrated success developing products in cross-functional environments.
    • Simulation and Stress Analysis experience helpful.
