SUMMARY:

The Electrician responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining road-side electronic equipment including but not limited to, signal systems, traffic monitoring devices, sensors, communications / networking equipment, CCTV, Dynamic Message Signs, ruggedized computers, fiber-optic components, industrial controls, audio and video systems, radio transmitters / receivers, and antennas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adheres to industry standard and company safety policies.
• Install power supply wiring and conduit such as EMT, O-CAL, rigid conduit, MC cable, strut, cable trays.
• Troubleshoot electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, and circuits
• Test electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify to identify hazards, defects or the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Utilizes computer programs to test, access and document site information
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems such as electrical panels, CT cabinets and power supplies.
• Converses with equipment operators to ascertain problems and cause before breakdown.
• Tests faulty equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction
• Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts
• Aligns, adjusts, and calibrates equipment according to specifications
• Analyzes and interprets test data
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Ensure all applicable policies and procedures are followed (safety, DOT requirements, etc.).
• Capable and willing to perform work at heights up to 100' on pole(s)/tower, climbing via the safe use of ladders, or safety climb systems and/or bucket trucks.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE:

• Journeyman Electrician's license is required. Master Electrician License preferred.
• 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
• Computer Skills (MS Office Suite, Windows Operating Systems and Commercial off the shelf programs).
• Must have and maintain a current valid Driver's License (CDL a plus) and good driving record.
• Experience working with Intelligent Transportation Systems and IMSA Signal Technician training a plus.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Ability to read, interpret, modify, or create project specific documents such as technical, operational, maintenance and procedure documentation.
• Ability to write technical reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to use computer hardware and programs
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working near traffic. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Working six to twelve hours per day is common, while being exposed to weather, dust, and construction site hazards.
