LSU Health New Orleans Division of Property and Facilities is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Electrician. The person applying for this position should possess two years of experience in the Electrical trades (such as Electrician's helper).

Job Duties and Other Information

  • installs, maintains, alters, and repairs electrical wiring (underground and above ground), conduit ( underground, exterior, and interior), external light fixtures and poles (parking lot, sidewalk, and building), interior Light fixtures, power appliances, light machinery, electrical controls (switches, breakers, fuses, and panel boxes), transformers, motor starters, related switchgear and controls, outlets and all other related electrical circuits and equipment which also includes in-house renovations
  • investigates and resets elevator controls when possible
  • performs electrical-related demolition and construction work on minor projects as assigned throughout the entire campus
  • possesses the ability to properly and safely operate the following equipment: manlift, pipe threading machine, drill press, and other equipment used in daily tasks
  • supervises lesser skilled workers in the absence of Electrician Master
  • campus maintenance emergencies, work orders and assists other trades as needed

Position-Specific Details:

Compensation: Starting rate of pay $19.67 per hour. There is also an additional $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only. Rate may be increased depending on applicants' qualifications.

Hours of Operation: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday

Appointment Type: Probational

Pre-employment Drug testing, Physical, and Criminal Background check are required.
