Description

Job Title: Electrical Wire Harness Technician

We are adding to our full time consulting team working onsite at a major client in the Portland area! The Electrical Wire Harness Technician supports prototype and early-stage vehicle development by planning, building, and validating low- and high-voltage wiring harnesses and related systems. This role manages test bench updates, executes harness modifications, and collaborates closely with engineering, build, and validation teams to ensure high-quality, safe, and reliable electrical systems for prototype electrified trucks. The technician takes ownership of issues from identification through resolution and contributes to continuous improvement of harness design, integration, and build processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute timely delivery of test bench updates aligned with harness project timelines.
  • Plan and implement wire harness updates and fixes per design specifications.
  • Drive alignment and accountability across stakeholders to achieve aligned targets.
  • Ensure clarity on scope and customer expectations, including test scripting, test execution, and design maturity status.
  • Perform testing of harness commodities in alignment with design requirements, collaborating with engineering teams.
  • Validate harness build quality against defined standards and verify and approve test results.
  • Troubleshoot harness issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Provide technical consultation on design challenges and documentation gaps.
  • Support prototype builds and production support during early vehicle builds.
  • Document findings and report on prototype build maturity and risks.
  • Drive timely resolution of cross-functional issues impacting build quality and timing.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, wire harness, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience with electrical, wiring, cabling, and the ability to understand wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions.
  • Ability to build, modify, and fix mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Create, modify, and maintain wiring harnesses and test the connections as required.
  • Understanding of Low Voltage harnesses along with High Voltage cable assembly and routing requirements.
  • Ability to test drive and diagnose issues in mechanical and electrical systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree, Technician degree, or trade certification with relevant harness experience, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of electrical wiring experience, ideally from automotive; aerospace, capital equipment or other large industrial applications will also be considered.
  • Hands-on experience with harness builds, prototype vehicle builds, or system integration.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, build shop, or validation environments.
  • Understanding of engineering documentation.
  • Strong project coordination skills, including tracking, communication, and status reporting.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with evolving requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
