Description

Seeking qualified applicants for the position of Electrical Technician at our lumber manufacturing facility in Bemidji, MN. This multi-skilled position has responsibility for repairing and maintaining all plant equipment to improve operating conditions, uptime, and quality performance. Perform predictive and preventive maintenance functions and utilize a computerized maintenance management system. Make all necessary machine checks and troubleshoot to remedy operational or quality deficiencies.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $39.0784.

Working conditions and essential physical functions:

  • Must be capable of working in an industrial setting subject to hot, dusty, cold, wet, dirty and confined working environments on occasion.
  • Able to climb and descend stairs, ladders, catwalks at elevated levels, and work at heights.
  • Critical physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, carrying, crawling, kneeling, crouching, bending, pushing/pulling, etc.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements:

  • Must be a reliable, responsible, safety conscious individual who has the ability to work as part of a high-performance team.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an electrical training program with a vocational/technical degree…and/or…
  • 3 - 5 years electrical industrial work experience preferred, preferably in a wood products mill.
  • Ability to program, troubleshoot and repair PLC-based control systems utilizing electrical test equipment and Windows-based programming software (preferably Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5 and RSLogix 5000).
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC circuits, single and three-phase wiring, motor starters, relays and relay logic, PLCs, PID loop control. Knowledge of, and the experience to safely work on equipment with operating voltages up to AC 480 V.
  • Ability to install, program, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives.
  • Comfortable working with computers and familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to pass a maintenance pre-work screen (meet the critical physical demands of the job).
  • Flexibility to work days, nights and weekends on a rotating schedule (the regular workweek consists of four 10-hour shifts plus on-call weekends).
  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability.
