Location: Thacker Pass, NV

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 12 months
  • Pay Rate: $67.66 $87.83 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: EWW 57-hour work week; 3 Weeks on, 1 Week Off; must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including nightshift, split shift, or day shift
  • Travel Requirements: Mobilization/Demobilization Covered; Trips Home Covered
  • Additional Compensation: 10% Project Allowance; 10% Project Completion Incentive

Job Summary

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing electrical operations in an area of the Project. Supervises and directs craft professionals, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift, split shift, or day shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical leadership to personnel assigned to the Area, including preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading company and subcontractor safety meetings.
  • Inspect site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct breaches.
  • Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.
  • Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy; ensure that company, local, and national safety codes, requirements, and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Monitor the activities of craft to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Responsible for the cost, schedule, and optimization of craft labor and maintaining the 90-day and 3-week look-ahead schedules for labor and equipment.
  • Interface with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment and training programs.
  • Review craft time records using established automated tools.
  • Review and approve subcontractor equipment/personnel mobilization and demobilization.
  • Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned electrical operations.
  • Coordinate with the General Foreman to hire craft labor to execute work.
  • Coordinate established area operational plans.
  • Provide input to quantity tracking applications and report weekly installed quantities to Project Controls.
  • Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables and coordinate through Procurement to obtain these materials.
  • Assist in performing construction testing as required.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
  • Plan the client and equipment required to execute the job.
  • Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate electrical personnel.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.

Required Skills

  • Heavy industrial direct hire union construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field electrical activities.
  • Must have extensive experience and practical skills in the installation of electrical equipment and materials through the final termination and operation of the electrical systems.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to develop 3-week look-ahead schedule in regards to crane operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing, or power generating station construction.

Education Requirements

  • University/BS degree in Engineering or Construction Management plus 10 13 years of experience, or 14 17 years of equivalent industry experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Work includes field supervision and the physical ability to perform the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard-issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
