Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and entrepreneurial Electrical Subcontracting Manager - Pool Construction to lead the electrical and low-voltage automation aspects of new residential and commercial swimming pool construction, while also expanding our footprint as the preferred wiring subcontractor for pool builders across the Tampa Bay area. This is a hybrid role: part licensed electrical leader on the job site, part business developer in the field. The ideal candidate is comfortable running crews and reading blueprints in the morning, then knocking on a pool builder's door in the afternoon to win the next job. This role ensures high-quality installations, strong builder relationships, and steady growth of the New Pools division.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Pool Builder Relations

• Proactively identify and engage local pool builders through in-person visits (“door-knocking”), calls, and site visits to introduce Hawkins Service Company as their go-to electrical/wiring subcontractor.

• Build and maintain long-term relationships with pool builders, general contractors, and developers to generate repeat and referral business.

• Represent the company professionally in the field, communicating our value proposition, capabilities, and service standards to prospective builder partners.

• Track outreach activity, follow up on leads, and convert prospective builder relationships into signed, recurring subcontractor work.

• Collaborate with sales/operations leadership on pricing, bid proposals, and contract terms for new builder accounts.

Project Planning & Coordination

• Develop the electrical and low-voltage automation scope of work for each new pool build.

• Collaborate with pool builders, project managers, engineers, and other contractors to align on project timelines and requirements.

• Review pool designs and blueprints for electrical feasibility and code compliance.

Electrical & Low-Voltage Installation Oversight

• Supervise and/or perform installation of pool-related electrical and low-voltage systems, including:

Pool lighting

Pump and filtration system wiring

Heating systems

Low-voltage automation and control panels (Hayward, Jandy, and Pentair systems)

Bonding and grounding systems

General residential wiring in and around new pool construction

• Ensure installations meet National Electrical Code (NEC), local regulations, and manufacturer specifications for automation equipment.

Team & Subcontractor Management

• Supervise electrical technicians and subcontractors on-site, including coordinating work performed as a subcontractor to pool builders.

• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure quality workmanship across multiple concurrent job sites.

• Provide training and guidance on best practices, automation systems, and safety procedures.

Inspection & Quality Control

• Perform site inspections and testing to ensure safe, functional, and properly automated installations.

• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and automation issues during and after construction.

• Coordinate with inspectors and pool builders for permitting and final approvals.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of materials used, labor hours, inspections, and change orders.

• Track builder outreach, new accounts won, and job pipeline; submit regular progress and business-development reports to leadership.

Qualifications

Required

• Journeyman or Master Electrician license (state-specific).

• 5+ years of experience in electrical work, including residential wiring, with at least 2 years in pool-related installations.

• Hands-on experience working as, or directly with, subcontractors in the pool-building trade.

• Low-voltage automation experience, including installation and programming of pool control systems.

• Working knowledge of Hayward, Jandy, and Pentair pool equipment and automation platforms.

• Strong knowledge of NEC and pool electrical safety standards.

• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and wiring diagrams.

• Experience supervising crews or subcontractors.

• Comfort with business-to-business (B2B) outreach — including face-to-face prospecting with pool builders — to develop new subcontractor relationships.

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred

• Manufacturer certifications for Hayward, Jandy, and/or Pentair automation systems.

• Established relationships with pool builders in the Tampa Bay area.

• Prior experience in an outside sales, account management, or business development role.

• OSHA 10/30 Certification.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Work Environment

• Mix of active construction site work and field-based business development (visiting pool builders' offices and job sites).

• Outdoor and construction site work; exposure to weather conditions.

• Frequent standing, bending, and lifting equipment/materials (up to 50 lbs).

• Regular travel throughout the Tampa Bay area required; reliable personal or company vehicle needed for builder visits.
