Electrical Service Coordinator
Location: Lorton, VA (In-Office)
GT Electric Service / LampPost Electric seeks an organized, customer-focused Service Coordinator to support our residential and commercial electrical service operations.
This position coordinates incoming service requests, creates accurate work orders, schedules and dispatches electricians, communicates with customers, tracks materials and return visits, and helps ensure each service call is properly documented and ready for billing.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and able to communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, facility teams, general contractors, suppliers, and electricians in the field.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming electrical service calls, emails, and online service requests.
- Gather customer, site, access, equipment, and service information and create complete work orders.
- Schedule and dispatch residential and commercial electricians based on technician availability, job requirements, location, and urgency.
- Coordinate emergency service calls, troubleshooting requests, repairs, warranty work, and return visits.
- Monitor technician status, appointment changes, job progress, material needs, and customer communications.
- Communicate schedule updates and service information clearly with customers and field personnel.
- Track parts and materials that are on order or required for upcoming and return visits.
- Track pending proposals, purchase orders, permits, inspections, and follow-up work.
- Review work-order documentation for completeness and accuracy before invoicing and job closeout.
- Help maintain accurate records of completed work, customer approvals, materials, and technician notes.
- Support efficient routing, technician productivity, accurate billing, and a positive customer experience.
- Coordinate information between customers, technicians, suppliers, and internal team members to keep service work moving.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in scheduling, dispatch, customer service, service coordination, or office coordination.
- Experience in electrical contracting, construction, HVAC, plumbing, fire/security, facilities maintenance, or another field-service environment preferred.
- Familiarity with electrical terminology, service work, materials, and field-service operations preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone and email communication.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work orders and changing priorities.
- Comfortable using computers, email, spreadsheets, scheduling systems, and other digital tools.
- Ability to gather accurate information and maintain detailed records.
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and professional when handling urgent service needs and schedule changes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, technicians, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience coordinating electrical service calls or working for an electrical contractor.
- Experience with field-service management, scheduling, dispatch, or work-order software.
- Familiarity with electrical materials, common service requests, and basic electrical terminology.
- Experience coordinating permits, inspections, purchase orders, proposals, or warranty work.
- Experience working with both residential and commercial customers.
Schedule and Work Location
- Job type: Full-time
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or schedule adjustments based on service needs.
- Work location: In person at the GT Electric / LampPost Electric Service office, with regular communication and coordination with electricians working at residential and commercial project sites.
Compensation
$20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Benefits
Eligible employees receive benefits beginning the first of the month following 60 days of employment. GT Electric / LampPost Electric
Service pays 50% of the employee cost for the applicable benefits package.
