Position Summary
Join Ogden-Weber Technical College and help shape the next generation of skilled electricians in a culture built on Community, Learning, and Integrity. The Electrical Instructor plays a vital role in providing engaging, hands-on technical instruction for students enrolled in the Electrical Programs, Electrical Apprenticeship, and Electrical Trades Prep. In this position, you will foster student success by verifying competencies and retention, providing meaningful advisement, maintaining accurate student records, and building strong relationships with area employers. You will also contribute to curriculum development and implementation, ensuring students are well-prepared for the State of Utah Electrical Licensing Exams. Working under the direction of the Electrical Program Coordinator and in conjunction with the Program Director, you will help create a supportive learning environment that empowers students to achieve their career goals while upholding OTECHs commitment to excellence and workforce development.
Essential Functions
Provide students with technical instruction in a safe, clean and productive learning environment.
Administer and grade tests; maintain progress and attendance on students.
Working with students to achieve programmatic yearly goals.
Motivate and advise students in the areas of appropriate work behavior, training, or study habits. Assist counselors, supervisor, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
Encourage and exemplify professionalism and good work habits.
Work with other Electrical Program Instructors to develop, prepare, and implement appropriate curriculum changes according to the recommendations of Occupational Advisory Committee, local businesses, and/or industry and professional standards.
Ensure that instructional content areas comply with college standards, and programmatic and/or institutional accreditation requirements.
Participate Occupational Advisory Committee meetings.
Complete ongoing professional development to increase technical expertise and instructional skills.
Support programmatic and college marketing activities.
Interact in a positive and professional manner with students, coworkers, and college partners seeking win-win solutions
Control the use of equipment and supplies; recommend purchases.
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
Must possess a current Utah Journeyman Electrician License.
Preference will be given to those individuals that have teaching experience.
Preference will be given to those individuals that have a current Utah Master Electrician License.
Familiar with Microsoft Office and can operate a Windows-based personal computer.
Physical Requirements:
Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, etc.
Additional Information
WORKING HOURS:
Monday and Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
