Electrical Field Service Technician
Job Summary
The Electrical Field Service Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and upgrading high?speed packaging machinery at customer sites. This role focuses on electrical systems, PLCs, drives, and troubleshooting, while also supporting customers through training and remote assistance. The position requires frequent travel and strong customer interaction skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance visits to ensure stable and reliable machine operation
- Install and commission new packaging machines
- Provide operator and maintenance training to customers
- Modify PLC and HMI programs as required
- Provide first-level remote support for customer troubleshooting needs
- Perform electrical upgrades and retrofits on existing machines
- Troubleshoot electrical control systems and machinery issues
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Work independently while maintaining a customer-focused service approach
Education and Experience
- 2-year degree or technical certificate in industrial automation, industrial electronics, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with packaging equipment installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on electrical experience in packaging equipment, including:
- Electrical installation
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Electrical repair and maintenance
- Experience using mechanical hand tools such as wrenches, punches, drills, and tapping tools
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in PLC programming, specifically Allen?Bradley systems
- Experience with frequency drives and servo drives
- Skilled in using multimeters for electrical circuit troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Proficient with electrical hand tools (wire strippers, cutters, crimpers)
- Strong understanding of electrical systems in industrial machinery
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Spanish language skills are a plus
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel frequently, including:
- Eligibility for passport and international travel
- Rental car eligibility
