    Electrical Field Service Engineer

    Location: Ohio-based | 75%+ Travel
    Job Type: Full-Time

    We are looking for a technically skilled Electrical Field Service Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, and service critical power distribution equipment, primarily in data center environments. This position is suited for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving, field work, and working independently while collaborating with engineering and service teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    Field Installation & Startup

    • Install and support startup of electrical power distribution systems
    • Assist with commissioning, system verification, and functional testing
    • Configure and troubleshoot HMIs and control interfaces
    • Verify equipment operation and compliance with applicable electrical codes and safety requirements

    Electrical Troubleshooting

    • Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase power systems, transformers, high-voltage components, switchgear, and distribution equipment
    • Diagnose electrical issues using a systematic, root-cause approach
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and mechanical drawings
    • Troubleshoot 24V, 120V, and 480V systems, including basic PLCs, fuses, breakers, and transformers

    Customer & Team Support

    • Act as the onsite technical point of contact
    • Work with engineering and internal teams to resolve field issues
    • Train equipment operators and maintenance personnel
    • Communicate system conditions, findings, and recommended next steps clearly in person, by email, and through service reports

    Service Documentation

    • Prepare accurate and detailed service reports
    • Record parts usage, labor hours, and service activities in the company system
    • Identify recurring equipment issues and provide feedback for product and process improvements
    • Assist with service procedures, technical documentation, training materials, and internal knowledge resources
    • Perform other assigned duties as needed

    Required Qualifications

    • 3–7+ years of experience in field service, electrical service, or a related position
    • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities
    • Working knowledge of 24V, 120V, and 480V electrical systems
    • Basic PLC troubleshooting experience
    • Knowledge of fuses, breakers, and transformers
    • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
    • Willingness to travel 75%+, including occasional short-notice assignments
    • Valid driver's license
    • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
    • Strong documentation and attention-to-detail skills

    Preferred Experience

    • Data center electrical or power infrastructure
    • Switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, or similar equipment
    • Electrical commissioning or commissioning support
    • OSHA or other formal safety training
