Overview
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, coordination, and execution of electrical engineering projects from concept through construction. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality electrical systems while ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
Summary
We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with experience in commercial electrical system design and project leadership. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to manage project teams, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and support projects throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of assigned electrical engineering projects.
Manage Engineers, Designers, Modelers, and Drafters in the preparation of electrical permit and construction documents.
Coordinate with owners, developers, architects, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project execution.
Design and layout electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, lightning protection, and specialty systems.
Perform electrical engineering calculations, including load analysis, voltage drop calculations, and fault current studies.
Develop and review one-line and riser diagrams for electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, generators, and renewable energy sources.
Prepare and maintain project specifications and technical documentation.
Develop lighting fixture schedules, feeder schedules, and other project deliverables.
Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, and contractor documentation for technical compliance.
Respond to RFIs and provide technical support to clients, contractors, and inspectors.
Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions and verify electrical system installations.
Ensure projects are completed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, schedules, and quality expectations.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Required / BS in Electrical Engineering is Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license Preferred
Experience designing commercial electrical systems and preparing construction documents.
Knowledge of electrical power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, lightning protection, and related building systems.
Proficiency performing electrical calculations, including load studies, voltage drop analyses, and fault current calculations.
Experience developing electrical specifications, riser diagrams, one-line diagrams, and system schedules.
Understanding of construction administration processes, including shop drawing reviews, submittal reviews, RFIs, and field coordination.
Field experience related to the installation of commercial electrical systems preferred.
Strong project management and team leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Ability to conduct technical research and solve engineering challenges effectively.
