About Starpath
Starpath develops and manufactures the technologies that will enable humans to live on the Moon and Mars. Today, we are building robotic systems that locally produce the essential commodities a lunar civilization will require at extreme scale: water, power, and oxygen. Our ultimate goal is to build and operate a self-sustaining city on Mars.

The Role
The Starlight team is focused on dramatically improving space solar power to support Starpath's core mission and the greater space economy. Starlight manufactures the lowest cost and highest performance space solar ever, which will power the majority of new satellites built on Earth and all of Starpath's equipment on the Moon and Mars.

Responsibilities

  • Prototype PCBAs for motion control, power management, and radio communication

  • Define & justify system requirements, conduct trade space analysis, and document decisions

  • Design, manufacture, assemble, and test prototype hardware on rapid iteration timelines

  • Interface with adjacent teams to integrate hardware into corresponding mechanical subsystems, with an emphasis on ease of manufacturing and meeting frequent system integration points

  • Determine qualification and acceptance testing criteria with common published testing standards (ie. NASA SMC-S-016) in mind

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience building, testing, and debugging PCBAs

  • A desire to make Humans a multi-planet species

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Desire and capability to lead a fast and well coordinated team

  • Experience in developing low BOM cost electronics for deep space applications, including knowledge of techniques for low cost component selection

  • Experience up-screening low cost components for space applications

  • Desire and capability to develop hardware on rapid timelines

  • Desire and capability to own hardware from prototype to production

  • Desire and capability to build test support hardware (custom harnessing, fixtures, etc.) and facilitate test campaigns

  • A strong desire to make Humans a multi-planet species

Compensation & Benefits

  • Location: Los Angeles (Hawthorne), CA

  • Salary base rate is $90-$180k/yr, plus equity package; compensation scales with candidate experience

  • PTO & health/dental/vision coverage included

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
