    Power Electronics Engineer – Space Solar

    About StarpathStarpath develops and manufactures the technologies that will enable humans to live on the Moon and Mars. Today, we are building robotic systems that locally produce the essential commodities a lunar civilization will require at extreme scale: water, power, and oxygen. Our ultimate goal is to build and operate a self-sustaining city on Mars.

    The RoleThe Starlight team is focused on dramatically improving space solar power to support Starpath's core mission and the greater space economy. Starlight manufactures the lowest cost and highest performance space solar ever, which will power the majority of new satellites built on Earth and all of Starpath's equipment on the Moon and Mars.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, qualify, and bring to scaled production high voltage power conversion for array conditioning

    • Flow down system requirements, conduct trade space analysis, and conduct design from system topology to schematic to layout

    • Design, manufacture, and test prototype hardware on rapid iteration timelines

    • Select manufacturing methods and equipment to achieve low cost scalability

    • Interface with adjacent teams to package hardware into viable mechanical systems

    • Define qualification and acceptance criteria to achieve reliability in the mechanical, thermal, and radiation environments of space

    • Management of hazardous high voltage testing

    Required Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering

    • 2+ years of experience building, testing, and debugging PCBAs

    • An ability to learn skills and theory quickly to meet project requirements

    • A desire to make Humans a multi-planet species

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering

    • Experience with high efficiency DC power converter design

    • Experience in defensive design against high voltage effects including primary and secondary arcing, partial discharge, and insulation breakdown

    • Experience harnessing economies of scale in space applications

    • Experience with acceptance and qualification standards typically used both for terrestrial PCBs (e.g. IPC) and spaceflight (e.g. NASA STD)

    • Desire and capability to develop hardware on rapid timelines

    • Desire and capability to own hardware from prototype to production

    • Desire and capability to build test support hardware (custom harnessing, fixtures, etc.) and facilitate test campaigns

    • A strong desire to make Humans a multi-planet species
