Electrical Design Engineer

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead building systems design projects from concept through construction. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who can independently manage projects, maintain client relationships, and provide leadership to a small team of designers. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required. Local candidates are preferred, but remote candidates with the right experience will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Building Systems

Develop electrical systems designs and construction documents for commercial, retail, multifamily, hospitality, and healthcare projects.
Produce complete drawing packages, specifications, and supporting calculations.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

Project Management

Manage projects from kickoff through construction administration.
Oversee project scope, schedules, deliverables, and budgets.
Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and provide construction support as needed.

Client & Consultant Coordination

Serve as the primary electrical engineering contact for architects, owners, and project stakeholders.
Coordinate effectively with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other design disciplines.
Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Team Leadership

Mentor, direct, and review the work of junior designers and drafters.
Help prioritize workloads and maintain productivity across the design team.
Contribute to design production while supporting team development.

Technical Expertise

Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to develop project designs and documentation.
Apply sound engineering judgment to solve complex design challenges.
Proactively identify issues and recommend practical solutions.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Strong experience designing electrical systems for commercial building projects.
Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Experience leading or mentoring junior engineering staff.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
Excellent communication, organization, and client-facing skills.
Ability to identify risks early, manage competing priorities, and maintain project schedules.
Preferred Experience
Commercial, retail, multifamily, hospitality, and/or healthcare project experience.
Experience coordinating directly with architects and multidisciplinary design teams.
Previous responsibility for project ownership and client management.
PE license is a plus but not required.
