Job Description

This role is designed for a skilled Electrical Engineer with RF development experience who is ready to play a key role in an engineering team focused on advancing RF technologies. You will apply your expertise in RF circuit design, basic RF amplifier concepts, and wireless communication theory to support high-impact product development and redesign initiatives. The position involves hands-on circuit building, debugging, and performance verification testing, working closely with cross-functional teams to optimize product performance and ensure compliance with demanding industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine RF circuits that meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.
• Apply wireless communication theory and basic RF amplifier knowledge to support innovative RF solutions.
• Build and assemble RF circuits and prototypes for product development and redesign projects.
• Debug RF circuits and systems, identifying root causes of performance issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Conduct performance verification testing on products under redesign, ensuring they meet specified RF and system-level criteria.
• Use RF test equipment, including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters, to perform precise measurements and analysis at the circuit level.
• Document test procedures, results, and findings clearly to support engineering decisions and product improvements.
• Collaborate with hardware R&D and other cross-functional teams to optimize product performance and integrate RF solutions into broader systems.
• Support sustaining engineering activities for existing RF products, contributing to continuous improvement and reliability enhancements.
• Handle lab equipment and components safely, including lifting items up to approximately 20-25 pounds as needed.
• Follow lab safety practices and use provided safety equipment, such as lab safety glasses, during testing and development activities.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment of 8-10 engineering professionals, sharing knowledge and supporting collective project goals.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of dedicated experience in RF development in a professional engineering environment.
• RF circuit design, including hands-on experience with RF amplifier concepts.
• Strong understanding of wireless communication theory and its application in practical RF systems.
• Proven experience using RF test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters for circuit-level testing.
• Demonstrated ability to perform RF measurements, interpret data, and translate results into design improvements.
• Hands-on skills in building, debugging, and testing RF circuits and prototypes.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline providing a solid foundation in electrical and RF engineering principles.
• Ability to work effectively within a hardware R&D environment focused on RF technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to complex RF and circuit-level issues.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting test results and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a hardware research and development (R&D) environment for RF-focused sites.
• Familiarity with CCS-related lines of business or similar cross-functional organizational structures.
• Exposure to using tools such as Cadence or similar electronic design automation (EDA) software for circuit design and analysis.
• Ability to collaborate in teams of approximately 8-10 members, contributing to shared engineering objectives.
• Comfort working with standard lab instrumentation and following established engineering test procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and precision in engineering work.
• Adaptability to support both new product development and sustaining engineering activities.

Work Environment

The role is based in a lab-office environment within a hardware R&D setting focused on RF technologies. You will work primarily in an engineering lab equipped with RF test instruments such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters, as well as standard electronic measurement and prototyping tools. The position does not involve safety-sensitive functions such as operating heavy machinery, working with hazardous materials, driving, or handling live high-voltage wires beyond normal lab practices.

This is a Contract position based out of Schaumburg, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $39.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
