Electrical / Product Engineer

Schedule: Monday–Friday (Saturday as needed) | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

Environment: Manufacturing / Production Floor

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical / Product Engineer to support electrical systems, product development, manufacturing operations, and continuous improvement within a production environment.

This position is best suited for an engineer who enjoys working beyond the desk. The engineer will work directly with production, quality, and engineering teams to troubleshoot electrical and product issues, improve manufacturing processes, develop technical documentation, and support the design, testing, and implementation of electrical and automated systems.

The ideal candidate combines electrical/controls knowledge with strong manufacturing and product-engineering experience.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment
• Read, develop, and modify electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Diagnose electrical/electronic equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
• Support automation of machinery and manufacturing processes using PLC systems and electrical controls
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Create and maintain Production Work Orders (PWOs), Work Instructions (WIs), inspection records, and engineering documentation
• Translate customer requirements into electrical, product, and manufacturing requirements
• Identify components and document part numbers, specifications, measurements, materials, and related technical information
• Create and modify CAD/SolidWorks drawings, prints, and models
• Build and test prototypes and production components
• Conduct electrical, product, and component testing and document results
• Assist with quality inspections and root-cause/corrective-action investigations
• Recommend electrical, engineering, product, and process improvements
• Work directly with production personnel to resolve manufacturing problems
• Inspect electrical systems and components during installation and production
• Maintain engineering records, test reports, QA documentation, and product data
• Provide technical guidance and training to production/team members
• Communicate with customers, suppliers, contractors, production employees, and management
• Participate in project and management meetings and provide technical updates

Must-Haves

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering

2. Manufacturing experience

Candidate needs to understand a production environment.

3. PLC/controls experience

Understand PLC-controlled machinery and be capable of troubleshooting electrical/control problems.

4. Hands-on troubleshooting ability

Someone who is confident going onto a manufacturing floor and diagnosed equipment, electrical, controls, product, or process problems.

5. BOM/manufacturing documentation experience

They should understand BOMs and preferably have experience with work instructions, routings/work orders, drawings, specifications, or similar controlled manufacturing documentation.

6. CAD experience

SolidWorks/ Auto CAD would be ideal.

Preferred experience

ISO 9001, Lean Six Sigma, formal DOE experience, OSHA/EPA knowledge, advanced SolidWorks, root-cause methodologies, and extensive customer-facing experience are all valuable, but I wouldn't make every one of them mandatory.
