This entry-level electrical engineering role supports the design, testing, and implementation of industrial electrical and control systems. You will work closely with experienced engineers to develop electrical drawings, contribute to PLC-based control systems, and assist with instrumentation and control projects from initial design through startup. This position is ideal for a recent electrical engineering graduate who wants to build a career in electrical engineering, controls, and industrial automation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and development of electrical control systems and instrumentation packages for industrial applications.
• Create and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of material to support project execution.
• Support PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system testing activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist with instrument selection, panel integration, and control system commissioning for new and existing systems.
• Perform electrical calculations and contribute to equipment specification activities to ensure proper system performance.
• Support factory testing and startup activities, including functional testing of control panels and instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues that arise during manufacturing, testing, and startup.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure effective communication and successful project delivery.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards and best practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, test procedures, and reports.
• Participate in root cause analysis efforts to identify and resolve electrical and control system issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in industrial control systems, automation, and electrical design processes.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor"s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 0-2 years of experience in electrical engineering or related roles; internships and co-op experience are welcome.
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits, industrial controls, and instrumentation.
• Exposure to PLC programming through coursework, projects, or internships.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in electrical and control systems.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and support project goals.
• Foundational knowledge of instrumentation and controls (E&I).
• Interest in PLC programming and troubleshooting for industrial control systems.
• Ability to assist with control panel design and industrial control system layout.
• Attention to detail when creating and maintaining technical documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs.
• Exposure to industrial instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, level, and flow devices.
• Familiarity with relay logic, control panels, and electrical distribution systems.
• Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
• Internship or project experience involving industrial controls or electrical systems.
• Experience with electrical design, including schematic development and control system layout.
• Background in automation and industrial control systems design.
• Ability to contribute to technical documentation and engineering reports.
• Experience with root cause analysis for electrical or control system issues.
• Understanding of E&I controls design and electrical design engineering principles.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment with approximately 50 employees, offering a dynamic and fast-paced setting with a strong startup feel. The shop floor is active and can be dirty, with a lot of equipment and processes operating simultaneously, so you will regularly be present on the floor and not just working behind a desk. You will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, engaging directly with industrial control systems, panels, and instrumentation. This environment provides hands-on exposure to real-world automation and electrical systems, with opportunities to participate in testing, troubleshooting, and startup activities.

This is a Permanent position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
