Electrical Engineer

This role is responsible for creating electrical schematics and designs, developing bills of material, producing customer-facing design documentation, and supporting technical sourcing efforts. Job Summary 
Seeking an Electrical Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to design electrical systems for heavy industrial equipment, including enclosed and underground-mounted assemblies and specialized power conditioning units. This role is responsible for creating electrical schematics and designs, developing bills of material, producing customer-facing design documentation, and supporting technical sourcing efforts. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across multiple product lines and collaborating with mechanical, controls, and manufacturing teams in a matrixed environment. 



Key Responsibilities 

• Design and develop electrical systems for heavy industrial equipment, including enclosed and underground installed assemblies and specialized power conditioning units 
• Create, read, and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line drawings 
• Design wiring layouts and harnesses for high-power electrical equipment and control circuits 
• Select and size components such as circuit breakers, contactors, transformers, cabling, and protective devices 
• Develop and maintain accurate bills of material (BOM) for electrical designs 
• Prepare basic design documents, drawings, and technical packages for customer review and approval 
• Support technical sourcing by evaluating vendor components, specifications, and quotes 
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet applicable electrical codes and standards 
• Support troubleshooting of electrical issues during production, testing, and commissioning 
• Assist with design reviews, documentation updates, and engineering change requests 
• Travel occasionally, up to 10 percent, to support customer sites, vendors, or field issues 
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with focus in Power and/or Automation 
• 2-5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience 
• Working knowledge of reading and creating electrical schematics 
• Basic understanding of electrical components, circuit protection, and wiring practices 
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and customer requirements 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing documentation 
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with high-power electrical equipment 
• Experience working in a matrix organization 
• Knowledge of EPLAN and SolidWorks 
• Familiarity with NEC, UL, or other applicable electrical standards 
• Prior experience supporting manufacturing or production environments

Work Environment & Physical Requirements 

• Primarily an office and engineering environment with periodic time on the manufacturing floor 
• Occasional exposure to shop floor conditions when supporting testing, troubleshooting, or production 
• Ability to travel up to 10 percent for customer, vendor, or field support needs
