Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Controls Specialist to join a manufacturing team focused on driving operational excellence, automation, and continuous improvement. This role provides technical support for production equipment, troubleshoots electrical and controls systems, and leads efforts to improve machine reliability and performance across fabrication, metal finishing, and assembly operations.
Responsibilities
Provide controls and technical support for manufacturing operations, including fabrication, metal finishing, and assembly processes
Troubleshoot equipment downtime and perform root cause analysis to improve system reliability
Identify and eliminate production barriers across automated manufacturing systems
Support and improve equipment including stamping presses, welders, conveyors, automated assembly systems, and robotics
Update, modify, and optimize existing control systems, including:
PLC and ladder logic programs
Robotics systems
Motor controls and electrical distribution systems
Relay logic circuits
Operator interfaces (HMI)
Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Coordinate machine control modifications and installations with production and maintenance teams
Create, maintain, and update technical documentation, including:
Electrical schematics
Hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
Panel layouts
PLC, HMI, and robot programs
Implement and maintain production data collection systems for manufacturing equipment
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity
Required Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
2-5 years of experience in electrical controls, automation, or manufacturing engineering
Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience
Experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
Experience with electrical or mechanical CAD software
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prepare, read, and interpret reports, procedures, and work instructions
Willingness to support occasional weekend work as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with motion control systems
Robotics programming experience
Machine vision experience
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment
Knowledge of automated production equipment and controls integration
