JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Explain what the scope of the work/project is? Project Overview, deliverables (what is this person responsible for).

The team handles daytoday maintenance and equipment replacement at substations. Engineers will lead like-forlike replacements and upgrades of substation equipment (e.g., breakers, switches, transformers, relays, bushings, arresters), perform troubleshooting, initiate projects, order materials, develop/adjust designs as needed (brownfield—no greenfield design), coordinate with construction to execute, manage schedules, and ensure communications to all stakeholders (construction, substation maintenance team, etc.). Deliverables include scoped work packages, materials requisitions, field coordination, and completion of replacement/maintenance activities

2. What does a typical day look like?

Hybrid schedule: Mon/Fri work from home; Tue–Thu onsite at the Lipan Distribution Center office. Typically, 8 hours/day. Substation visits are common and field time counts toward regular hours and can be flexed. Activities include scope definition, troubleshooting, site visits, coordinating with crews, stakeholder communication, and project followups. No routine overtime expected.

6. Describe work environment / team culture (supportive/collaborative, teamwork or individual contributor)?

Highly supportive and collaborative; strong emphasis on teamwork with other groups and field crews.

7. Can you elaborate on any potential risks or safety considerations associated with this role, particularly if the responsibilities extend beyond a standard desk or office environment?

Field work at substations (highrisk environment); PPE required (e.g., steeltoe shoes). PPE is typically provided by the contracting company and can be expensed to Xcel as needed. Weather exposure in Minnesota conditions should be expected.

1. What are the top 3-5 skills and qualifications (technology/application/software, etc.) required?

1.Electrical Engineering degree (required).

2) Substation equipment knowledge and troubleshooting experience or strong willingness to be in the field.

3) Familiarity with brownfield replacement/maintenance workflows.

4) Stakeholder coordination and project initiation/materials ordering.

5) Software: SAP, ProjectWise, and basic PLC/logic programming a plus (not required).

2. What non-technical skills are necessary (i.e., such as communication, problem solving, team player)?

Problem solving, teamwork/collaboration, and professional communication (especially with field crews)

3. Ideal candidate background and how many years required?

Role A (midlevel): ~5+ years preferred; Colorado PE preferred.

4. Are there any specific companies you like to see on a candidate's resume?

Positive experiences with One Tech Engineering and Integral Partners (manager is open to others)

5. Are there any certifications that the candidate must possess?

PE license (Colorado) preferred for the senior role. Not stated as a strict musthave for both roles

6. Are there any preferred or "nice to have" skills?

Substation Engineering design experience.

What is the location of the contract assignment (Full time onsite, hybrid – percent of time on site/home or, are you open to fully remote)? If the resource is expected to be onsite, can you confirm if the resource can park on Xcel property/in the ramp?

Hybrid: Tue–Thu in office (LDC office); Mon/Fri remote. Yes resource can park on Xcel property.
