We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical system design, schematic development, and power distribution engineering for our custom automation equipment and industrial plant systems. This role spans the full product lifecycle: from initial customer concept and electrical CAD drafting to component sizing, shop floor testing, and occasional field commissioning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Create complete, detailed electrical schematic packages, control panel layouts, power distribution single-line diagrams, and I/O drawings using modern CAD platforms.
2. Generate detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) and procurement requisitions for all electrical components, ensuring adherence to project budgets and timelines.
3. Conduct shop and/or field tests and measurements to verify system meets project or design tolerances and specifications.
4. Successfully complete project activities to meet schedule deadlines, objectives, and requirements by reviewing project specifications, customer requirements, and project completion milestones.
5. Coordinate and schedule project tasks with Production, Project Managers, Mechanical Engineers, and outside vendors.
6. Contribute to project success by completing assigned tasks on time and completely.
7. Review and verify that designed items are within budget and completed on schedule.
8. Conduct reviews at various stages of project completion to identify design details, components, procedures, and methods that can be improved.
9. Understanding and ensuring compliance with the plant health and safety regulations.
10. Accepting a level of responsibility and accountability proportionate to the experience level.
11. Proactively discusses details with project and sales managers to define desired/required functions of machines, equipment, and the user interface requirements.
12. Reviews schematics with customer's representatives to answer questions.
13. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Professional engineering office environment equipped with CAD workstations. The employee is also routinely exposed to a variety of conditions that are encountered in production environments (in-house and at customer sites).

This is largely a sedentary role; however, ability to work within an industrial plant is required.
TRAVEL
This position requires approximately 10 15% travel (including domestic and occasional international site visits) for customer consultations, project troubleshooting, site commissions, and training.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience with Schematic Drafting: Create complete electrical schematic packages, panel layouts, power distribution single-lines, and I/O drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN Pro Panel experience a plus).
Component Selection & Sizing: Select and size power supplies, circuit breakers, contactors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), servo drives, PLCs, safety relays, and field sensors.
Enclosure & Thermal Sizing: Calculate panel heat dissipation and specify appropriate enclosure cooling (air conditioning, heat exchangers, fans) or ingress protection (NEMA / IP ratings).
Cable & Conduit Schedules: Design cable/conduit schedules and interconnect diagrams, specifying industrial cabling for high-flex, motion, power, signal, and harsh industrial conditions.
Typical automation systems will contain an assortment of presses, clamps, feeders, part manipulators, material cutters, temperature conditioning systems, positioning equipment, and conveyors in various combinations. The systems require innovative thinking to provide customer solutions that reduce time, labor, and raw material usage for manufacturing parts and components across a wide range of industries.
1. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 5 to 10 years related engineering experience and/or training.
2. Computer Aided Design software AutoCAD 2D software, Excel and Word is required.
3. The ability to work independently as well as on a project team.
