Trak group is partnering with a growing client seeking an
Electrical Engineer to support electrical design, capital projects, commissioning, and plant operations within an industrial manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on engineering support for electrical distribution, motor controls, instrumentation, and process equipment while working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and outside consultants.
The Electrical Engineer will support projects from design through installation and startup, including electrical calculations, technical documentation, troubleshooting, FAT, commissioning, and system validation. This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a combination of
project engineering and hands-on plant support.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate electrical work during construction, commissioning, startup, and project handover.
Develop and review electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, grounding plans, and motor control schematics.
Perform electrical calculations for system design and equipment selection.
Ensure electrical designs and installations comply with NEC requirements, including classified hazardous locations.
Generate and review loop drawings, instrument plans, and specification sheets.
Partner with engineering consultants on electrical distribution systems for capital projects.
Prepare scopes of work, design specifications, and technical documentation for small to mid-sized projects.
Support Maintenance with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical and instrumentation issues.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, startup, and system validation.
Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Recommend electrical equipment and ensure proper installation.
Maintain and continuously improve site electrical engineering standards and practices.
Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
Must-Haves
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
25 years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Experience with 480V electrical distribution systems.
Knowledge of motor controls, power distribution, and instrumentation systems.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Experience with electrical design, calculations, schematics, and technical documentation.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues and perform root cause analysis.
Experience supporting capital projects, equipment installations, commissioning, or startup activities.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and project coordination skills.
Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams.
Preferred
Chemical manufacturing or process industry experience.
Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems.
Knowledge of NEC requirements for classified/hazardous locations.
PLC and DCS system experience.
Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC).
Preventive and predictive maintenance program experience.
