Leading solar company in Charlotte is adding an Electrical Engineer to guide projects from design through construction. Responsibilities include:
- Provide primary technical direction on complex PV solar, BESS, and substation projects
- Manage electrical, civil, mechanical, and structural Engineer of Record (EOR) scopes
- Lead and review power system studies, including short circuit, arc flash, load flow, voltage drop, harmonics, and protection coordination
- Work with third-party engineers, utilities, RTOs/ISOs, and Independent Engineers on permit drawings and interconnection submissions
- Maintain engineering standards and quality control procedures, ensuring designs meet NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and UL requirements
- Participate in equipment selection, technical vetting, RFP evaluations, and factory acceptance testing (FAT) for inverters, transformers, switchgear, and BESS equipment
- Travel to project sites as needed for field investigation, pre-construction surveys, and commissioning support (approx. 10%)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience with a solar developer, design engineering firm, EPC, or equipment manufacturer focused on utility scale solar PV, BESS, and substation projects
- Proficiency with power system modeling and engineering software
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer License
