Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESControls & System Design
Design electrical control systems for custom automation equipment, including assembly, inspection, and testing systems
Develop detailed schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or AutoCAD
Integrate electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems into cohesive control solutions
Project Execution & Collaboration
Work cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability
Support program timelines by delivering designs that align with project scope, cost, and schedule requirements
Collaborate with Program Managers to provide status updates and resolve engineering challenges
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
Manufacturing & Commissioning Support
Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to develop assembly instructions, wiring standards, and quality procedures
Provide technical support during machine build, debug, and startup phases
Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement design modifications as needed
Assist with system validation, testing, and customer acceptance activities
Continuous Improvement
Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in automation and controls
Contribute to standardization efforts, design libraries, and engineering documentation
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability in design processes
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
1-5 years of experience in electrical design within an industrial automation or manufacturing environment
Experience designing systems for custom machinery, assembly lines, or test equipment
Technical Skills
Proficiency with EPLAN (preferred), AutoCAD Electrical, or AutoCAD
Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including:
PLC I/O and panel design
Motor controls, safety circuits, and power distribution
Pneumatic and hydraulic control integration
Ability to perform electrical load calculations and system sizing
