Description
Technical Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer for an opportunity with an established engineering organization supporting industrial and manufacturing clients.
Position Overview
This position will support the design and development of electrical systems for a variety of industrial projects. We are looking for an Electrical Designer with a strong background in power distribution, electrical layouts, and raceway design who is comfortable working as part of a multi-discipline project team.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on design experience in environments such as heavy industrial, manufacturing, oil & gas, metals, power, or infrastructure projects. This individual should be able to work independently on assigned design activities while coordinating closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and other technical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical drawings and design packages for industrial projects, including one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, raceway plans, wiring/interconnection drawings, grounding plans, and lighting layouts
- Create and maintain cable and conduit schedules and assist with material quantity take-offs
- Develop 2D and 3D electrical designs, including raceway and conduit routing
- Work with electrical engineers on the design and layout of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems
- Review project specifications, drawings, field information, and other technical documentation to identify and resolve design issues
- Coordinate electrical requirements and routing with structural, mechanical, piping, and other engineering disciplines
- Review drawings and design work for accuracy, constructability, and consistency with project requirements
- Participate in project coordination meetings and communicate with project leadership and clients as needed
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior designers
- Perform occasional field visits to gather information, verify existing conditions, and support project execution
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical design experience, preferably supporting industrial, manufacturing, or similar facilities
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience with CADWorx, particularly for 3D modeling and electrical raceway routing
- Experience developing low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and project priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to perform field/site visits as required
- Willingness to travel occasionally, approximately 10%
Preferred Qualifications
- Several years of hands-on CADWorx experience
- Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application to industrial electrical design
- Experience with additional electrical design, modeling, or engineering software
- Previous experience working within a multi-discipline engineering environment
