    Description

    Electrical Designer

    Location: Maitland, FL
    Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

    We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Maitland, Florida. The Electrical Designer will support a variety of projects and clients as part of a multidisciplinary project team. This position will be responsible for electrical design, drafting, calculations, documentation, and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

    The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with electrical design software, strong knowledge of electrical systems and design practices, and the ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical design, report preparation, specifications, proposals, construction documentation, and electrical plan development.
    • Design a variety of electrical projects, including:
      • Electrical schematics
      • Grid plan layouts
      • Electrical power systems
      • Lighting systems
      • Protection and controls
      • Site and facility electrical design
    • Follow established company, client, and project design and drafting standards.
    • Plan and develop drawings for production work, including problem analysis, design layouts, and calculations for assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
    • Perform electrical design assignments using established methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequencing, presentation, system component sizing, and refinement of preliminary sketches.
    • Execute design changes, revisions, redlines, and markups on active projects.
    • Analyze reports, drawings, test results, and other project information to support project planning and design.
    • Interpret and incorporate applicable design codes, standards, and specifications into project deliverables.
    • Review design drawings for quality assurance while maintaining project scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
    • Complete project tasks and assignments within established budgets and deadlines.
    • Perform volume calculations for conduit and grounding layouts, equipment and panel wiring diagrams, and relay panel schematics.
    • Organize and maintain project drawings, revisions, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
    • Maintain clear and concise written and verbal communication related to project and client coordination.
    • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other disciplines to resolve design and drawing issues.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Comply with applicable company policies, procedures, and standards.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of related/relevant experience, OR
    • Associate degree with a minimum of 8 years of related/relevant experience, OR
    • High school diploma with a minimum of 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
    • A Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program does not meet the educational requirement for this position.
    • Advanced proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Excel.
    • Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
    • Advanced ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
    • Advanced knowledge of electrical design, calculations, and design systems.
    • Advanced understanding of the theory and practices of the assigned discipline.
    • Competent understanding of the fundamental concepts of related disciplines as they apply to electrical design.
    • Ability to operate related discipline design software necessary to complete production tasks.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary project environment with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other project stakeholders.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality design deliverables.
