     Electrical Designer III 

    Experience Level: 7+ Years
    Location: Birmingham, AL/ REMOTE
    Contract- 3 Years

    Position Overview

    The Electrical Designer III is responsible for developing detailed physical electrical designs for heavy industrial facilities. This role collaborates closely with engineers, architects, and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality, code-compliant 2D drawings and 3D models.

    The ideal candidate brings extensive heavy industrial experience, strong CAD proficiency, and the ability to perform field walk-downs to ensure constructability and design accuracy.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design & Modeling

    • Collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements and objectives
    • Develop physical electrical designs including system layouts and equipment arrangements
    • Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models
    • Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) to create and modify electrical drawings
    • Maintain proficiency in design software and stay current with updates
    • Extensive 3D modeling experience strongly preferred

    Compliance & Standards

    • Ensure designs adhere to industry codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, etc.)
    • Conduct code reviews and implement updates as required
    • Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements

    Documentation & Deliverables

    • Create and maintain organized documentation including:
      • Electrical drawings
      • Specifications
      • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Prepare technical reports and project documentation
    • Perform quality checks and peer reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness

    Field Verification & Constructability

    • Conduct site walk-downs for field verification
    • Address constructability concerns and recommend practical solutions
    • Coordinate with field teams to resolve design-related issues

    Collaboration & Coordination

    • Work cross-functionally with engineers, architects, vendors, and plant personnel
    • Build strong working relationships across project teams
    • Provide design solutions and technical support throughout project lifecycle

    Required Qualifications

    • 7+ years of heavy industrial electrical design experience
    • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD required)
    • Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE)
    • Experience producing 3D models for industrial facilities
    • Ability to interpret technical documents and integrate multi-discipline designs
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
