Job Title: Electrical Designer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to develop, modify, and maintain electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical. The role involves interpreting high-level circuit requirements and independently translating them into accurate schematic designs. You will be responsible for reviewing schematics for errors, performing audits to ensure drawing integrity and compliance, generating and running reports to support shop floor operations, and creating and maintaining custom AutoCAD Electrical blocks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and maintain electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Interpret high-level circuit requirements and independently translate them into accurate schematic designs.
  • Review schematics for errors and perform audits to ensure drawing integrity and compliance.
  • Generate and run reports, such as wire tags and device IDs, to support shop floor operations.
  • Create and maintain custom AutoCAD Electrical blocks and ensure they are properly integrated into the system for reuse.
  • Support both new design from scratch and modifications/redlines to existing drawings.
  • Develop one-line diagrams and assist with design documentation packages.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and shop personnel to resolve design or documentation gaps.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot discrepancies between documentation and physical equipment in the shop.
  • Participate in design reviews, potentially driving CAD models during customer-facing sessions.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing shifting priorities and urgent shop needs.
  • Attend weekly CAD prioritization meetings with project management to align on workload.

Essential Skills

  • Experience as an Electrical Designer.
  • Experience in control panel/power distribution design in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Vault or similar document management systems.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or panel shop environments.
  • Experience creating and managing custom CAD libraries/blocks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, PDM, and Teamworks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
