Overview:

We are seeking an Electrical Design Technician with approximately 3+ years of experience to support the design and development of overhead utility infrastructure and renewable energy projects. This individual will work closely with engineers, project managers, and design teams to prepare construction drawings, develop design packages, and support utility coordination efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD and Revit experience, a solid understanding of electrical design principles, and a desire to contribute to utility-scale and renewable energy projects.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and modify electrical design drawings, plans, details, and construction documents for overhead distribution and transmission projects.
  • Assist with the design of utility-scale renewable energy facilities, including solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and related electrical infrastructure.
  • Develop plan and profile drawings, site layouts, electrical details, and permitting exhibits using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Support engineers in the preparation of design calculations, material takeoffs, and construction packages.
  • Coordinate with utility companies, clients, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure design accuracy and project success.
  • Review project data, field information, surveys, and utility records for incorporation into design documents.
  • Perform quality control reviews of drawings and ensure compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and client requirements.
  • Assist with as-built documentation and preparation of record drawings.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting project schedules and deadlines.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of electrical design or drafting experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required.
  • Working knowledge of Revit required.
  • Experience preparing electrical design and construction drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, utility clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with overhead utility distribution and/or transmission projects.
  • Experience supporting utility-scale solar, energy storage, or renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of utility design standards and practices.
  • Experience with GIS platforms and utility mapping software.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and utility design requirements.
  • Experience using Civil 3D, MicroStation, or related design software.

Salary Range:

$75,000 to $90,000
