    Electrical Design Engineer
    Location: Winston-Salem, NC
    Department: Engineering / Operations

    The Resource is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer opportunity with an established and growing technology company in the Winston-Salem area.

    This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for someone who enjoys taking electrical systems from concept and design through prototype, testing, production, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience designing reliable, rugged, low-voltage electrical systems for products operating in demanding outdoor environments, with particular experience in DC power, batteries, solar, power conversion, and PoE networking.

    In this role, you will work closely with Operations, Production, Product Development, Service, and Sourcing to develop innovative products while improving reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
    What You'll Do
    • Design electrical systems for camera platforms, control boxes, and mobile surveillance trailers.
    • Develop electrical power architectures incorporating:
      • AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion
      • Solar charging systems
      • Battery management and storage
      • Shore power
      • PoE power distribution
    • Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and other engineering documentation.
    • Design rugged electrical systems capable of operating in demanding outdoor environments.
    • Support prototype builds, product testing, validation, and field troubleshooting.
    • Conduct root cause analysis and implement engineering changes to improve product reliability and performance.
    • Partner with Production to improve manufacturability, quality, assembly processes, and serviceability.
    • Work with Sourcing and suppliers to evaluate components, qualify vendors, identify alternatives, and reduce product costs.
    • Develop electrical engineering standards, testing procedures, and design documentation.
    • Provide technical leadership for new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate product requirements into practical, reliable electrical designs.
    What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
    • 5+ years of experience designing and developing electrical products or systems.
    • Strong foundation in electrical engineering theory, including circuit analysis, voltage/current relationships, power, AC/DC fundamentals, and electrical system behavior.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply electrical theory to practical product and system design challenges.
    • Hands-on experience with low-voltage DC power systems.
    • Experience with battery-powered and/or solar-powered applications.
    • Working knowledge of AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion.
    • Experience creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
    Preferred Experience
    Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
    • IP surveillance and camera systems
    • PoE networking, including IEEE 802.3af/at/bt
    • Solar charging systems
    • Lithium-ion and AGM battery systems
    • Industrial controls
    • Mobile equipment, trailers, or other vehicle-based systems
    • LTE/5G networking
    • AutoCAD Electrical
    • SolidWorks Electrical
    • Altium or similar electrical design/CAD software
    • UL, NEC, NEMA/IP, FCC, or related electrical/product standards

    Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

    Candidates currently working under OPT status will not be considered.

    C2C (Corp-to-Corp) arrangements are not available for this position.
