Position Overview
Are you an experienced electrical engineer ready to step up from detailed technical design into comprehensive project ownership and client leadership? We are seeking an Electrical Engineer (PE) / Project Manager to spearhead high-impact commercial and educational building projects across Florida. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between technical excellence and client execution—steering complex electrical designs while managing multidisciplinary coordination from concept to commissioning.
Joining our team means stepping into an entrepreneurial, client-first culture built on mentorship, quality, and direct ownership. Here, you aren't just managing projects; you are building long-term relationships, shaping infrastructure standards across the region, and guiding the next generation of engineering talent. Supported by hands-on leadership and an integrated A/E delivery platform, this position offers the ideal launching pad for sustained professional growth and career impact.
Core Responsibilities
End-to-End Project Stewardship: Manage project life cycles from scope development and budgeting through design execution, QA/QC, utility coordination, and construction administration.
Integrated Multidisciplinary Leadership: Lead seamless coordination across mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, technology/low-voltage, and commissioning teams, serving as the central technical liaison for architects and project owners.
Complex Systems Design: Execute and oversee robust electrical system designs for commercial and institutional facilities, with an emphasis on medium-voltage building distribution, interior/exterior lighting, standby/emergency power, surge and lightning protection, and grounding/bonding.
Technical Quality & Compliance: Review high-fidelity Revit models and construction documentation, ensuring flawless drawing and specification quality while maintaining strict compliance with NEC, NFPA, SREF, and Florida Building Codes.
Client & Stakeholder Direction: Plan and facilitate key client meetings, manage risk, document action items, and maintain strong relationships with local utilities and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
Construction & Field Support: Lead submittal reviews, respond to RFIs, oversee site observations, and direct punch-list resolution to guarantee design integrity in the field.
Talent Mentorship: Guide, direct, and mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering technical excellence and operational growth across the engineering team.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
Licensure: Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain Florida licensure via comity within 12 months.
Experience: 8–12 years of electrical design experience within an MEP consulting environment, including direct project management and client-facing responsibilities.
Software Proficiency: Strong, hands-on command of Revit for electrical modeling and documentation; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in medium-voltage building power distribution, standby/emergency power systems, interior/exterior lighting design, and surge/lightning protection.
Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of NEC, NFPA, and Florida state/local electrical codes.
Career History: Demonstrated history of tenure and stability in previous consulting engineering roles.
Preferred Qualifications
Sector Focus: Strong background in K-12 educational facility design (SREF/FBC exposure); additional experience in higher education, healthcare, aviation, or civic/government facilities.
Systems Integration: Practical experience coordinating low-voltage and technology systems (security, fire alarm, communications) alongside primary power distribution.
Leadership Track Record: Proven track record of team leadership, staff development, and junior engineering mentorship.
