Build, troubleshoot, and keep the systems running.

Stark State College is looking for an experienced Electrical Controls Technician to become the technical expert behind the electrical, controls, and building automation systems that keep our campus safe, comfortable, efficient, and operational.

This is a hands-on troubleshooting role for someone who enjoys figuring out why a system isnt working, finding the root cause, and fixing it-not simply maintaining equipment according to a checklist.

Youll work with electrical distribution, Automated Logic Building Automation Systems (BAS), WebCTRL, HVAC controls, instrumentation, fire protection systems, low-voltage systems, and a variety of mechanical and facility equipment.

If youre currently an industrial maintenance technician, controls technician, BAS technician, commercial electrician, facilities technician, HVAC controls technician, or electro-mechanical technician and enjoy working across multiple systems, wed like to meet you.

Typical Hours/Days of Work: Mon-Fri, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Location: The primary work location for this position will be the College's main campus; however, the employee may be assigned to and work at various Stark State College campus locations based on departmental and operational needs.

Pay: $56,619 - $73,531/annually. This is a 250-day contract position, with compensation commensurate with experience.

What youll do:

  • Program, monitor, troubleshoot, modify, and optimize Stark States Automated Logic BAS and WebCTRL platform.

  • Diagnose complex electrical, controls, automation, HVAC, and facility-system problems and determine the root cause.

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems, control panels, lighting, instrumentation, wiring, and low-voltage systems.

  • Troubleshoot fire alarm systems, electronic safety devices, sensors, actuators, and related controls.

  • Work with HVAC equipment and controls to improve building comfort, reliability, energy efficiency, and performance.

  • Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs involving electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building systems, machinery, and fixtures.

  • Respond to priority alarms and facility issues and determine the appropriate corrective action.

  • Help identify opportunities to improve system reliability, energy efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.

  • Support broader campus maintenance activities, including snow removal and other operational needs when required.

What were looking for (minimum requirements):

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • At least 3 years of full-time experience in advanced electrical maintenance, controls/building automation, instrumentation, industrial maintenance, or closely related facility systems.

  • Required electrical certification, registration, or license applicable to the position.

  • Valid Ohio drivers license and satisfactory driving record.

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize problems, and safely troubleshoot complex systems.

You dont have to know everything on day one (preferred, but not required):

Experience with Automated Logic/WebCTRL, BAS, HVAC controls, fire alarm systems, instrumentation, or multiple trades is highly valuable. Were especially interested in technicians who have a strong electrical/controls foundation and can learn the Stark State systems.
