American Crystal is looking for a highly, self-motivated individual to join our team as an Electrical & Control System Specialist at the Moorhead, MN factory.  This position utilizes their knowledge of electrical and control systems to effectively maintain and advance each system.  The individual assists and supports the factory by completing daily maintenance and operations tasks relating to electrical, instrumentation and controls. The individual is involved daily in employee development and provides backup support for the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor as required. This position is heavily involved in the commissioning, installation, and maintenance of capital projects. 

The principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• The E&C Systems Specialist consults with the Maintenance Engineer, Control Systems Engineer and Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor regarding the maintenance of control systems and automation changes.  Provides technical expertise in the maintenance of control systems and the process conditions that are affected by automation changes and corrections. 
• The incumbent assists the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor in the training and development of subordinates to assure a high level of efficiency and safety in the required skills to maintain and repair electrical and instrumentation machinery and equipment within their field of expertise. 
• The incumbent coordinates and directs the work of the electrical and instrumentation crew through the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor.
• Provides general control systems and instrumentation training for factory employees to effectively prepare factory personnel to successfully operate electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment.
• Communicates externally with contractors and suppliers to stay abreast of new technological developments applicable to electrical and control systems.
• This position is a member of the Company’s Radiation Safety Committee.
• Provides expertise to factory engineering personnel in the electrical and instrumentation areas and interfaces with the Production Superintendent and Production team in maintaining and modifying the control system and automation components to maximize operational efficiency.
• The Electrical & Control Systems Specialist provides input to the Maintenance Superintendent and Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor in determining budgetary requirements for campaign and inter-campaign accounts that are normally assigned to the electrical and instrumentation departments.

To be successful in this position requires technical knowledge of power distribution, motor control process control systems, and advanced electrical and instrumentation concepts typically gained through the completion of an associate electrical or electronics degree or a related field with eight years minimum related industrial field experience.  State Journeyman Electrician License preferred.  Knowledge and experience in DeltaV preferred.  This experience should include troubleshooting, maintenance, and design in the above areas.  Planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills are essential as well as the ability to supervise and motivate staff. Knowledge of the sugar beet industry or alternately relevant industrial experience in power plants, refineries, ethanol, pulp and paper, steel or food processing is required.
