POSITION SUMMARY:
Owner's-side Electrical Construction Manager for data center facilities at scale. Owns electrical construction from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout - scope, quality, schedule, budget, general contractors, vendors, and colocation partners. Mission-critical MEP, 24/7 operations, energy-efficient and resilient infrastructure.
The Electrical Construction Manager plays a critical role in delivering state-of-the-art data center facilities at scale. This position involves leading the electrical aspects of construction projects, from pre-construction planning through commissioning and closeout, ensuring projects meet high standards for safety, efficiency, sustainability, and resiliency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, networking, security, and commissioning, while interfacing directly with general contractors, vendors, and colocation providers. The role emphasizes energy-efficient designs and innovative solutions for critical infrastructure in facilities that support 24/7 operations. This is a day-shift, on-site owner's representative role - not a contractor PM sitting in a trailer, and not a design engineer who only reviews drawings. Extended hours are expected when the job requires it; this is not a night-shift position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own and manage project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for electrical construction on new builds or capital improvement projects, including large-scale MEP installations.
- Develop detailed execution plans, lookahead schedules, and methods of procedure (MOPs) for electrical systems, coordinating daily activities with contractors and trades.
- Serve as the on-site owner's representative: regular site walks, troubleshooting equipment failures, root-cause analysis, and compliance with design specifications, codes, and regulations.
- Interface with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, punch-list, and closeout; negotiate change orders, RFIs, and proposals to protect cost, schedule, and quality.
- Collaborate with design teams on constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical systems, integrating tenant fit-out with base-building infrastructure.
- Oversee commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and quality assurance so the facility meets data center resiliency and efficiency goals.
- Manage financials: progress billing, cost tracking, and reporting of key metrics to stakeholders; contribute to capital requests and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Foster relationships with architects, engineers, and internal teams to resolve issues promptly and keep operations, networking, security, and commissioning aligned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of construction management on large, complex projects involving MEP systems, preferably data centers or other critical infrastructure.
- 6+ years managing general contractors and vendors, including RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, and submittal tracking.
- Proven delivery on time and on budget, with strong organization, negotiation, financial, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (Microsoft Project, Prolog or equivalent), Microsoft Office Suite, and estimating tools. You do the tracking yourself.
- Ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams and use mission-critical / data center terminology fluently (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDU, busway, STS, MOPs, LOTO, IST, N+1 / 2N).
- On-site, field-present, day shift. Willing to work extended hours when the job requires it (lookaheads, outages, commissioning, closeout). This is not a night-shift role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Direct data center new-build or colo fit-out experience (hyperscale, enterprise, or colocation). Hospital, semiconductor, or other 24/7 critical power is a plus if data center time is light.
- Owner's-representative or owner-CM experience, not only contractor-side PM.
- Commissioning / IST of electrical critical infrastructure, including live-facility MOPs.
- OSHA 30, NFPA 70E. PMP is a plus, not a substitute for data center / critical-infrastructure delivery.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering,
